IRAZÚ VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK

Irazú Volcano National Park protects Costa Rica’s highest active volcano, located in Cartago within the Central Volcanic Mountain Range. It is known for its craters, volcanic landscapes, cool mountain climate and wide views that, on clear days, may reach both coastlines. The park has two main visitor sectors: Craters Sector and Prusia Sector.

Daily: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Tickets are purchased online through SINAC.
Fee:
Costa Rican citizens and residents: ₡1,000
Foreign visitors: US$15
Fees may change; confirm when booking through SINAC’s official system.
CRMaps Tip:
Buy your ticket before visiting and arrive early, because crater visibility is usually better in the morning. Bring a jacket, comfortable shoes, sunscreen and rain protection. Weather can change quickly and temperatures are usually cool.
