PARQUE NACIONAL LOS QUETZALES

Los Quetzales National Park protects cloud forests, highland oak forests, páramo and water sources in the upper Savegre River basin. It is one of the best places in Costa Rica to see quetzals, along with other mountain birds, highland flora and cool landscapes of the Talamanca Mountain Range. It was created to conserve high-value natural ecosystems in the Copey de Dota area.

CRMaps Tip:
Arrive early, as birdwatching is usually better in the morning. Bring a jacket, rain layer, closed shoes, water and binoculars. The weather is cool and humid, with frequent mist, so it is best to be prepared even if the day starts clear.
