CABO BLANCO ABSOLUTE NATURAL RESERVE

Cabo Blanco Absolute Natural Reserve is one of Costa Rica’s most important protected areas. It was created in 1963 and is considered the country’s first protected area established for conservation purposes. It protects tropical dry and humid forest, marine life, beaches, nature trails and a wide variety of wildlife, including birds, monkeys, coatis, deer, armadillos and marine species.

Hours:
Wednesday to Sunday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Monday and Tuesday: closed.
Trail access may have a latest entry time; arriving early is recommended. 

Fee:
Costa Rican citizens and residents: ₡1,600
Foreign visitors: US$12
Fees may change; confirm before visiting through SINAC or the official online reservation system.

Arrive early, bring water, sunscreen, insect repellent and comfortable walking shoes. The trail to Cabo Blanco Beach is demanding and should not be started late. This is a conservation area, so visitors should follow signs, avoid feeding wildlife and stay on marked trails.
