GANDOCA-MANZANILLO NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE

Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge protects one of the most important natural areas in Costa Rica’s Southern Caribbean. It combines tropical rainforest, beaches, reefs, wetlands, mangroves and marine-coastal ecosystems. It is a key conservation area for sea turtles, manatees, birds, reptiles and a wide variety of wildlife.

Foreign visitors: US$6

It is best visited with a local guide, especially for trails, wildlife watching or understanding the protected ecosystems. Bring insect repellent, water, sunscreen, comfortable shoes and rain protection. Stay on marked trails, do not touch marine life and avoid restricted areas.
