BARRA DEL COLORADO NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE

Barra del Colorado National Wildlife Refuge is a large protected area in Costa Rica’s northern Caribbean region, within the Tortuguero Conservation Area. It protects canals, rivers, lagoons, wetlands, flooded forests, Caribbean coastline and areas of high biodiversity. It is a remote destination closely connected to sport fishing, birdwatching, wildlife observation and boat tours.

• Crocodiles, caimans, monkeys and reptiles
• Possible presence of manatees, tapirs and wild cats in protected areas
