SANTA ROSA NATIONAL PARK

Santa Rosa National Park is part of the Guanacaste Conservation Area and is one of Costa Rica’s most important natural and historical sites. It protects tropical dry forest, beaches, wildlife and the historic Santa Rosa Sector, home to the Casona de Santa Rosa, linked to the Battle of Santa Rosa in 1856. The site combines conservation, national history, trails, viewpoints and access to natural areas such as Playa Naranjo.

Tuesday: closed.

Arrive early, bring water, sunscreen, insect repellent and comfortable shoes. For Playa Naranjo, a high-clearance or 4x4 vehicle is recommended, and visitors should check in advance whether the sector is open. Pets are not allowed, and removing plants, shells, rocks, sand or animals from the protected area is prohibited.
