ARENAL VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK

Arenal Volcano National Park protects one of Costa Rica’s most recognizable volcanoes, along with forests, old lava flows, viewpoints and areas of high natural value. It is located near La Fortuna and is part of the Arenal Huetar Norte Conservation Area. It is one of the main places to view the volcano, walk nature trails and enjoy views toward Lake Arenal.

Tickets are purchased directly at the park entrance booth on the day of the visit.
CRMaps Tip:
Arrive early to make the most of the trails and viewpoints. Bring water, sunscreen, insect repellent, closed shoes and a light rain jacket. Weather can change quickly, and volcano visibility depends heavily on cloud cover. For the Peninsula Sector, check road conditions before visiting.
