Poás Volcano National Park protects one of Costa Rica’s most visited active volcanoes. Its main attraction is the main crater, reached by a short trail from the visitor center. The park also includes cloud forest areas, highland vegetation and Botos Lagoon, although trail access may vary depending on volcanic activity and safety conditions.

Hours:
Daily: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Last entry: 2:20 p.m.
Tickets are purchased online through SINAC.

Confirm the current entrance fee when purchasing through SINAC’s official online system, as rates may vary by visitor category and park operating conditions.

CRMaps Tip:
Buy your ticket before visiting and check the park status the same day, because this is an active volcano and access conditions may change. Bring a light jacket or rain layer, comfortable shoes and arrive early for a better chance of seeing the crater before clouds move in.
