MONTEVERDE CLOUD FOREST RESERVE

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is one of Costa Rica’s most iconic nature reserves. It protects a cloud forest ecosystem with high biodiversity, well-marked trails, constant mist, dense vegetation, orchids, birds and iconic species such as the resplendent quetzal. The reserve is managed by the Tropical Science Center and combines conservation, research, environmental education and nature tourism.

Hours:
Cloud Forest Walk: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Natural History Walk: 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Night Walk: 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Online booking is recommended, and visitors should arrive 15 minutes before their assigned time slot.
Fee:
Self-guided entrance for foreign visitors: approx. US$29 adults / US$16 children ages 6–11.
Children ages 0–5: free.
Fees may vary depending on circuit, tour and availability; confirm when booking on the official website.

Book before visiting, especially during high season. Arrive at the Visitor Center with enough time, since access operates with assigned time slots and internal shuttle service. Bring closed shoes, a rain jacket, water and binoculars. Weather can change quickly, and mist is part of the experience.
