BASILICA OF OUR LADY OF THE ANGELS

The Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels is Costa Rica’s main Catholic shrine and one of the country’s most important religious sites. It is dedicated to the Virgin of the Angels, Costa Rica’s patron saint, popularly known as “La Negrita.” Its architecture, history and pilgrimage tradition make it one of Cartago’s most representative landmarks.

Monday to Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Sunday: closed.
